Dave Sundeen was a pioneer member of the men’s basketball program at Crown playing from 1957-1961. Sundeen played the point guard position for Crown, and was the team’s Most Valuable Player his junior and senior year. In his senior season, Sundeen averaged 22.5 points and had a season high of 37 points. In his four years of play, the team accumulated a 42-27 record. The team’s best season occurred in 1959 when they posted a 13-2 record.
Sundeen says of his athletic experiences at Crown, “They were the highlight of going to school. I truly enjoyed playing for Crown and my coach, Mr. Tewinkel, provided a home-away-from-home for all of us.”
Sundeen graduated from Crown in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in Missions. He served in Brazil from 1963-1967. Sundeen has a wife, two children, and seven grandchildren.
