Andy Sorenson MS, LAT, ATC - Head Athletic Trainer

Andy Sorenson joined the Crown College athletic training department during the fall of the 2023-2024 academic year. He has served as the Healthcare Administrator and Head Athletic Trainer since Winter of 2025.
Prior to his arrival at Crown, he was an athletic trainer at North Central College in Naperville, IL where he provided healthcare for the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling championship team during the 2022-2023 season. Sorenson also has additional experience working at Wingate University in North Carolina as well as Arizona State University. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for his undergraduate degree in exercise science and Northern Arizona University for his master's degree in athletic training.
Sorenson's professional interests include corrective exercise and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions.

Sonja Squiers MS, LAT, ATC - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Sonja Squiers is in her second year with Crown College athletics and joined the athletic training staff in the summer preceding the 2024–2025 academic year. As a Minnesota native, she enjoys developing her professional career near family and friends.
Squiers earned both her bachelor’s degree in Clinical & Applied Health Sciences (2023) and her master’s degree in Athletic Training (2024) from Drake University. During her graduate studies, she gained hands-on experience working with the football, soccer, and track & field programs at Drake University and Simpson College. She also completed a high-level internship with the University of Minnesota Football program during the 2023–2024 season.
Her professional interests include musculoskeletal rehabilitation programming and preventative care. Outside of her work, Squiers enjoys spending time on the lake, going for walks or runs, and playing in local volleyball leagues year-round.

Ben Spores MS, LAT, ATC, CSCS - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Ben Spores joined the Crown College athletic training staff in the summer preceding the 2025–2026 academic year. A Washington native, Spores wanted to stay in Minnesota after completing his graduate studies.
Spores earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (2023) from University of Northwestern - St. Paul and his master’s degree in Athletic Training (2025) from Minnesota State University - Mankato. During his graduate studies, he gained hands-on experience working with football at UNWSP and baseball at Augsburg University.
His professional interests include musculoskeletal rehabilitation programming and acute care. Outside of his work, Spores enjoys spending time outside, playing pickleball, and Golf.

All pre-participation documents are to be completed via ATS by August 1st. Participation will be prohibited until all forms are submitted and approved by athletics staff. Fax number 952-446-4149 Attn: Athletic Training
- All new and transfer student-athletes must complete a physical within 6 months of participation – Signature required from one of the following providers: physician (MD/DO), physician-assistant (PA-C), or Nurse Practitioner (CNP)
- State High School physical forms will not be accepted.
- Physical Form can be accessed above.
- Sickle cell screening is a requirement of the NCAA as of August 1, 2022, for all new and transfer student-athletes. Proof from newborn screening test results or sickle cell screening blood test required prior to participation.
