Some athletic careers come and go with few obstacles and little hardship. Others require a full measure of perseverance, grit, and heart if they are to reach their full potential. It was the latter that was experienced by our next inductee, making her accomplishments all the more sweet.
Stephanie Lally broke onto the scene for the Crown College Women’s Soccer program in 2006 with one of the most brilliant seasons in school history. The freshman scored 33 goals and led Crown to the NCCAA National Title, earning a 1st Team All-Conference award, NCCAA All-Region and All-Tournament team recognition, and the title of NCCAA All-American.
Despite twice breaking her foot in the offseason, Lally returned for her sophomore year after missing the beginning of the season to lead Crown to a second consecutive NCCAA National Tournament. She also repeated as a 1st Team All-Conference performer in the UMAC, while again earning All-Region, All-Tournament, and All-American in the NCCAA, adding a National Tournament MVP award to her resume.
After a fantastic start to her junior year, Lally suffered another setback, tearing multiple knee ligaments in what would be a season ending injury. An injury that severe would end most careers, but Lally set about the arduous rehab process with the same determination that made her arguably the best women’s soccer player in school history, returning to win a third 1st Team All-Conference award in the UMAC during her senior season
.
Lally stood out in the classroom and on campus as well, serving as a Resident Assistant, Student Ambassador and as the first chair of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Since leaving Crown, Stephanie has married fellow Hall of Fame inductee Josh Prokosch and has made a name for herself in the local business community. Currently, Steph works at Target Corporate as a Logistics Analyst.
