St. Bonifacius, MN — Crown women's soccer hosted Coe College on Friday night for its home opener, with the late-summer heat wave still in full effect.
Despite the conditions, the Polars held the Kohawks scoreless throughout the first half, sending the match into halftime tied 0-0. Crown's defensive effort kept Coe off the board until the 70th minute, when the Kohawks finally broke through to take a 1-0 lead. Coe added two more goals over the next eight minutes, using the late scoring stretch to pull away and secure a 3-0 victory over the Polars.
Goalkeeper Rachel Fuller added 11 saves to her early-season resume, continuing a strong start to the season.
Crown will now head north to Duluth on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. matchup against St. Scholastica.
