Ankeny, IA — The Crown College Polars secured their first win of the season with a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Faith Baptist in the opening match of their Iowa road trip.
The Polars wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Aubrey Makela found the back of the net in the 4th minute to give Crown an early 1-0 lead. That goal would stand as the only score in a tightly contested first half.
The second half saw a dramatic shift in momentum. Faith Baptist responded with two quick goals, including one from the penalty spot, to take the lead. However, the Polars rallied. Ava Svec capitalized on a rebound off a missed penalty to equalize, setting the stage for a strong finish. Camille Ring, a standout on the track team, broke the tie with a goal, and Layla Kerr added a fourth to seal the win for Crown.
With the victory, the Polars improve to 1-0 on the weekend and look to complete the sweep as they face Coe College tomorrow at 1 p.m.
