Kansas City, MO — Wrapping up their time in Kansas City, Crown women's soccer looked to complete a weekend sweep after opening the season with a win, but the Polars fell just short in a 3-2 loss to Randall University.
Randall took control early, scoring twice in the first half to send Crown into the break trailing 2-0. The Polars responded in the second half behind veteran Layla Kerr, who scored a pair of goals to bring Crown back into the match. Hayden Thompson recorded the lone assist of the day for Crown.
After Kerr's two second-half scores evened the contest, Randall answered with the game-winning goal in the 75th minute to secure the 3-2 result. Despite the loss, the Polars showed resilience by battling back in the second half and continuing to compete until the final whistle.
Crown will return home Friday for its next match against Coe College.
