St. Bonifacius, MN – Women's Soccer Falls Just Short in Conference Opener Against Martin Luther
Following the men's 9-2 victory earlier in the day, the Crown College women's soccer team took the field in the nightcap, looking to match the strong start to conference play. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Polars came up just short, falling 2-1 to the Martin Luther Knights. The Knights struck first in the 11th minute, with Anna Kramer finding the back of the net to give Martin Luther an early lead. The rest of the first half was a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading possession and chances. Crown entered halftime trailing 1-0. The Polars responded early in the second half, as Ellie Schanbacher converted a penalty kick to level the match at 1-1. However, Martin Luther would break the tie in the 73rd minute with what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Crown looks to bounce back this Saturday, as they host UW-Superior at 6:30 PM, following the men's match.
