St. Bonifacius, MN — Crown women's soccer delivered a huge conference result on Tuesday night, defeating Martin Luther 2-0 in a win that strengthened the Polars' position in the UMAC tournament race.
The Polars struck first in the opening half when newcomer Brayli Reimer found the back of the net in the 29th minute. Hayden Pederson assisted on the play, helping Crown take a 1-0 advantage into halftime in a key conference match up.
Crown added an important insurance goal in the second half as Eva Starkey scored to push the lead to 2-0. Pederson picked up her second assist of the night on the play, continuing a strong all-around performance and helping the Polars stay in control.
Defensively, Crown was outstanding from start to finish. Rachel Fuller and the Polars' back line held strong all evening, preserving the shutout and limiting Martin Luther's chances to generate dangerous opportunities.
The victory gives Crown an important boost in the UMAC standings, as the Polars improve to 3-3-4 in conference play and continue to strengthen their postseason position.
Crown will now travel with the men's team to Wisconsin on Saturday for a non-conference match up against Maranatha Baptist.
