Mankato, MN — Crown women's soccer came away with a huge conference result on Saturday afternoon, shutting out Bethany Lutheran 1-0 to earn an important UMAC road victory.
The Polars got the breakthrough in the 24th minute when Layla Kerr scored her eighth goal of the season, continuing her strong offensive campaign. Brayli Reimer assisted on the play as Crown turned an early opportunity into what proved to be the decisive moment of the match.
From there, the Polars backed up the early lead with an outstanding defensive performance. Crown kept Bethany Lutheran from generating many dangerous attacking chances and stayed organized throughout the afternoon to protect the shutout. The back line and defensive effort as a whole helped control the flow of the match and made the one-goal advantage stand up the rest of the way.
The victory gives Crown a major boost in the conference standings, as the Polars improve to 2-2-3 in UMAC play and move into the playoff picture.
Crown will return home on Tuesday to host the University of Minnesota Morris at 7 p.m.
