St. Bonifacius, MN. – A strong second-half effort wasn't enough as the Polars fell 3-1 to the Hamline Pipers in a midweek non-conference match up at Old National Bank Stadium.
Hamline came out sharp, netting two first-half goals to take a 2-0 lead into the break. The Polars responded after halftime with renewed energy, generating several quality scoring chances. Freshman Jared Hernandez capitalized on the pressure, scoring the first goal of his collegiate career to cut the deficit in half. With momentum building, the Polars continued to push forward, but the Pipers held firm defensively. A late counterattack from Hamline sealed the result with a third goal, putting the game out of reach.
The Polars return to action this Saturday at 7 p.m. when they host Mount Marty University in their final non-conference game before entering UMAC play.
