St. Bonifacius, MN — Following the football game, Crown men's soccer took the pitch for its home opener against St. John's University on Saturday night.
The Polars' defense held strong through repeated pressure from the Johnnies early in the match, but St. John's broke through late in the 35th minute on a penalty kick to take the lead. The Johnnies added two more goals before halftime, sending Crown into the break facing a 3-0 deficit.
St. John's continued to apply pressure in the second half and capitalized on two more chances before the final whistle, handing the Polars a 5-0 loss.
With the result, Crown moves to 0-1-1 on the young season and will look ahead to next Thursday's match up against Hamline in St. Paul.
