Greenville, IL — Crown men's soccer earned its first win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Greenville University 3-2 behind a hat trick from veteran Ashton Hosler.
Hosler set the tone early, scoring in the 16th minute to give the Polars a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, he struck again in the 18th minute off an assist from Jared Hernandez, quickly pushing Crown's advantage to 2-0. The Polars carried that lead into halftime before Hosler completed the hat trick in the 50th minute, converting a penalty kick to put Crown in front 3-0. Greenville responded immediately, scoring in the 51st minute before adding another goal in the 65th to cut the deficit to one. Crown held firm from there, keeping Greenville off the board the rest of the way to secure the 3-2 victory.
With the win, the Polars picked up their first victory of the year and will now turn their attention to conference play. Crown opens UMAC action next Wednesday at Martin Luther College, with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m.
