New Ulm, MN — Crown men's soccer opened UMAC play on Wednesday afternoon with a 1-1 draw against Martin Luther, earning a point in the conference standings.
The Polars wasted little time creating offense and getting on the board, striking in the sixth minute of the match. Jared Hernandez finished his first goal of the season off assists from Ashton Hosler and Carlos Neto, giving Crown an early 1-0 lead.
Martin Luther answered in the 33rd minute, leveling the match at 1-1 before halftime.
Crown continued to generate chances throughout the match, finishing with 26 shots in a strong offensive showing. Despite the steady pressure, neither side was able to find the go-ahead goal over the final 45 minutes, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
With the result, Crown picked up a point in the UMAC standings and will now prepare for its Homecoming Saturday match up against the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
