Watertown, WI — Crown men's soccer turned in a strong offensive performance on Saturday afternoon, defeating Maranatha Baptist 5-2 in a non-conference road match up behind a hat trick from Josiah Hoffman and three assists from Carlos Neto.
The Sabercats struck first with a goal in the 6th minute, but the Polars answered quickly and never let the early deficit shake them. Trevon Stellmach got Crown on the board with the equalizer, finishing off an attacking build-up assisted by Ashton Hosler and Carlos Neto.
Crown kept the pressure on as the first half continued, and Hoffman delivered the go-ahead goal in the 39th minute on an assist from Neto to give the Polars a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
The same connection came through again in the second half, as Hoffman found the back of the net once more off another Neto assist to stretch Crown's advantage to 3-1. The Polars continued to attack with confidence, and Tijan de Jonge added another goal in the 63rd minute on an assist from Hosler.
Maranatha Baptist was able to answer one more time, but Crown had the final word. Hoffman completed his hat trick later in the match, burying a chance off an assist from Aidan Quandt to cap the 5-2 victory and put an exclamation point on a big offensive day for the Polars.
With the win, Crown carries momentum into its next match as the Polars return home to host Northwestern on Senior Day Wednesday.
