Winthrop, Minn. - The Polars cross country teams ran at the UMAC Championship races on Saturday. The women placed 2nd as a team and the men placed 4th.
It was a record setting day as
Ella Dufault was the individual champion in the women's 6k race as she set a school record time of 22:48.5. Dufault is the first women's runner to win the UMAC Championship race for Crown in the NCAA era (since 2008).
Ruth Brueckner finished 10th with a time of 24:53.7.
Olivia Stanley placed 13th with a time of 25:31 and
Mia Arroyo finished 14th with a time of 25:32.
Lily Bandy rounded out the top 5 Polars women runners with an 18th place finish.
Gracelyn Foster,
Abbie Hough,
Ashlyn Denton, and
Cambria Whiteis ran fo the Crown women. As a team Crown took 2nd overall with a score of 56 just nine points behind the leaders. This is the high ever finish for a Crown women's cross country team at the UMAC Championships in the NCAA era.
Austin Carlson led the Crown men with a 3rd overall finish with a time of 26:44.3 in the 8k race.
Andrew Deedon took 6th overall with a time of 27:13.
Caden Swoboda took 18th with a time of 28:53.6.
Luke Klassen and
Quin Peterson rounded out the Polars male competitors. As a team Crown finished 4th overall eleven points back of third place.
