Dubuque, Iowa - The Polars cross country teams competed at the NCCAA Regional Race on Friday. Both the men and women took 1st place as a team and both teams had the top individual runners.
Austin Carlson led the Crown men with a time of 27:41.2 which was good for the 1st place finish. He was followed closely by
Andrew Deedon who finished 2nd overall with a time of 27:44.7 in the 8k race.
Caden Swoboda finished in 9th place.
Luke Klassen and
Quin Peterson rounded out the Polars competitors. As a team the Crown men took the top spot for the first ever NCCAA north midwest region victory.
Ella Dufault led the Crown women with a time of 19:27.2 to earn the 1st place finish.
Mia Arroyo finished 3rd overall with a time of 20:57.5 in the 5k race.
Ruth Brueckner finished 5th,
Lily Bandy took 11th, and
Olivia Stanley took 13th.
Gracelyn Foster,
Abbie Hough,
Ashlyn Denton, and
Cambria Whiteis rounded out the Polars runners. As a team the Crown women took the top spot for the first ever NCCAA north midwest region victory.
Head Coach
Grant DeWitt earned coach of the year honors in the region for both teams.
The Polars cross country teams will next head to the UMAC Championships on Saturday, November 2nd in Winthrop, Minnesota.
