St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) released the recipients of this season's Men's Outdoor Track & Field Awards on Wednesday afternoon, with several Polars earning recognition following a strong showing at the conference championship.
Senior Caden Swoboda highlighted the honorees after an outstanding performance at the UMAC Championship, where he was named Co-Track Athlete of the Meet. Swoboda claimed first-place finishes in the 800m and the 4x400m relay, while adding a second-place finish in the 1,500m and a third-place finish in the 4x800m relay. He also placed sixth in the 400m, finishing the meet with five top-10 performances.
Swoboda was joined on the first-place 4x400m relay team by Abel Krause, Casey Struthers, and Nate Tomlinson. Krause also earned All-Conference honors with his performance in the 800m. Tomlinson turned in a strong all-around meet, finishing second in the 400m, third in both the 200m and 4x100m relay, and fourth in the 100m.
David Tuttle and Andrew Johnson rounded out the Polars' All-Conference honorees with their performances in the 3,000m steeplechase. Tuttle placed second, followed closely by Johnson in third. Johnson was also selected as the Polars' representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team for his character and attitude toward teammates and competitors.
The Polars used these standout performances to earn a third-place finish at the UMAC Championship. With key contributors returning and momentum from a strong conference meet, the Polars look poised to build on their success heading into next season.
