Owatonna, Minn. – The Polars women's tennis team hosted Simpson College on Thursday in Owatonna, falling in a tightly contested 4-3 match.
The Polars opened strong in doubles play, securing the point with two victories. Maya Wuotila and Xeng Her cruised to a 6-1 win, while Amy Eckstrom and Reagan Cocking battled to a 7-5 victory to give the Polars early momentum.
Singles competition proved to be just as competitive. Maya Wuotila and Emmerson McCullough each earned hard-fought wins, but Simpson claimed the remaining matches to narrowly edge the Polars 4-3.
The quick turnaround sends the Polars to Saint Mary's University of Minnesota on Friday for a 6:00 p.m. start. The match will be their final contest before the team heads to Florida for spring break, where they are scheduled to compete in four matches.
