Box Score River Falls, Wisc. - UWRF handed the Crown College Polars a 7-0 defeat Saturday in women's tennis action, sweeping all five singles matches and both completed doubles contests.
The Polars were tested across the lineup, but the Falcons proved too strong on the day. The closest battle came at No. 3 singles, where Kylieann Johnson pushed Emma Yanish to three sets before falling 6-7, 1-6, 6-3 — the lone set victory for Crown on the day. Johnson's resilience in the opening set, which she claimed in a tiebreak, was a bright spot in an otherwise difficult afternoon.
Amy Eckstrom (No. 1) and Maya Wuotila (No. 2) faced tough opponents in Brooke Lindeman and Sydney Wiener, respectively, while Reagan Cocking (No. 4) and Kayla Bultena (No. 5) also saw action for the Polars.
UWRF continued its dominance in doubles play. The No. 1 pairing of Wuotila and Johnson fell 6-1 to Lindeman and Wiener, while Cocking and Eckstrom dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 2. Crown did not field a player for the No. 6 singles or No. 3 doubles positions.
The Polars return to action on October 31 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where they will face Millikin University and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in their fourth fall match of the season.
