Men's Basketball Moves Closer to Playoff Berth with Win against Wisconsin-Superior

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The women's basketball team hosted the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets on Wednesday night, earning a dominant 70-53 victory to move closer to securing a UMAC playoff berth.

The Polars jumped out to an early lead, though Superior kept the margin within reach for much of the first half. Crown gradually created separation late in the second quarter, taking a 40-28 advantage into halftime.

The momentum carried into the third quarter as the Polars opened the half on an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 20. Crown never led by more than 21 points but also never saw its advantage dip below 13 the rest of the way, maintaining control throughout the second half en route to the 70-53 win.

Tyler Smith filled the stat sheet with 13 rebounds, six assists, five blocks, and one steal in a record-breaking performance. Smith now holds the program's single-season records for rebounds and blocks and needs just six more assists to tie Crown's single-season assists mark.

Anthony Knight led all scorers with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Parker Behne added 13 points, while Donovon Washington contributed eight points and three steals off the bench.

The Polars will await the result of the game between North Central University and Martin Luther College, as a Martin Luther loss would clinch a UMAC playoff berth for Crown. The Polars also remain in contention for the No. 2 seed and will face University of Northwestern – St. Paul on Saturday in a matchup with significant seeding implications.
