St. Bonifacius, MN — Friday's home triangular was a memorable one for Crown volleyball, as the Polars gave Head Coach Blattner a historic milestone victory. With Crown's opening-match sweep over Emmaus, Blattner became the winningest coach in program history, breaking the school record for volleyball coaching wins.

The Polars opened the day in the matinee match up against Emmaus at 3 p.m. and came out ready to play. Crown controlled the first set from the start, rolling to a 25-10 win. Emmaus responded with more resistance in the second set, but the Polars stayed composed and secured a 25-21 victory. Crown then closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the third set to complete the sweep and deliver the record-breaking moment for Coach Blattner.

Lauren Burnett powered the Crown attack in the opener with an outstanding 19-kill performance. The Polars also received strong play from their setters, as Kate Stevenson tallied 21 assists and Faith Sperl added 17 assists to keep the offense moving throughout the afternoon.

Following a break between matches, Crown returned to the court for its second contest of the day against undefeated Buena Vista. The Beavers showed why they entered the day unbeaten, taking the match in straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-19.

Even with the split, the day belonged in large part to Blattner and the milestone reached by the Crown program. The record-setting win over Emmaus added another memorable chapter for the Polars, who also showcased a strong offensive performance and continued growth as the season moves deeper into conference play.

Crown will now shift its focus back to UMAC action, traveling to Superior for a Wednesday night matchup at 7 p.m.
