St. Bonifacius, MN — Crown volleyball returned to the court Saturday afternoon for a quick turnaround conference match against Bethany Lutheran, coming off a straight-set win over Martin Luther the night before.
On a rainy day in St. Bonifacius, the Polars looked to carry Friday night's momentum into another UMAC contest. Bethany Lutheran took the opening set 25-18, but Crown responded with authority in the second. The Polars found their rhythm and evened the match with a strong 25-14 set victory.
The Vikings answered in the third set, edging Crown 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead in the match. With their backs against the wall, the Polars battled through a dramatic fourth set and pushed Bethany Lutheran beyond 25 points. Crown fought to extend the match, but the Vikings held on for a heartbreaking 28-26 win to close out the contest.
Delaney Boone made her presence felt at the net throughout the match, making things difficult for the Bethany Lutheran attack and finishing with six blocks. Faith Sperl helped guide the offense with 26 assists.
With the result, Crown moves to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in UMAC play. The Polars will return to action next Saturday when they travel to North Central University for their next conference match up.
