St. Paul, Minn. – The Polars men's basketball team traveled to Northwestern on Saturday afternoon and earned an 85–73 road victory.
The first half was tightly contested, ending in a 37–37 tie. Parker Behne caught fire early, scoring 13 points in the half while knocking down three triples. Anthony Knight kept pace with 14 points, all coming from inside the arc. Behne picked up right where he left off to start the second half, draining an early three for his fourth of the game. Tristan Youngblood also found his rhythm after the break, knocking down two three-pointers as the Polars gradually pulled away. Knight remained aggressive throughout, and Donovan Washington once again provided a big spark off the bench. Shooting 6-for-9 from the free throw line in the second half allowed the Polars to maintain their lead and secure the 85–73 win.
Knight led all scorers with 27 points on 13-of-24 shooting while adding four assists and two steals. Behne finished with 25 points, including five three-pointers on nine attempts. After a strong second half, Youngblood ended the game with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including three makes from beyond the arc on six attempts. He also contributed seven rebounds and two steals, playing a key role in the Polar victory. Tyler Smith continued his strong play, recording five blocks, 15 rebounds, and six assists.
The Polars remain on the road Wednesday as they travel to the University of Wisconsin–Superior before returning home to host Bethany Lutheran on Saturday.
