Ankeny, IA - The Polars men's basketball team faced off with Trinity Bible on Tuesday evening and fell by a score of 103-101 in overtime.
The first half saw the Lions shoot the lights out going 8-14 from three point range. Crown fell behind early and chipped away at the lead trailing by 7 points with 9:23 to play in the half. The Polars wre able to cut the lead to just 6 points as the Lions led at the break 47-41.
The Polars quickly knocked down a few shots off the good looks from
Tyrus Buckner and
John Grigsby. Trinity answered back pulling out in front 72-58 with 12:55 to go. Crown tied the score up twice before a
Colby Deluce three point basket put the Polars out in front late. The Lions tied the score up at 95-95 and that is how regulation would come to an end. Overtime was back and forth but a buzzer beater from Trinity finished the contest and Crown fell 103-101.
Carter Behne tallied 20 points leading on the offensive side of the floor going 6-10 from three point range. Buckner grabbed 17 rebounds off the glass.
Micah Ladd totaled 8 assists. As a team the Polars shot 50% from the field and 45.7% from three point range.
Crown falls to 13-13 on the season and will next host the NCCAA DII National Championship tournament starting on Thursday, March 13th.
