St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars men's basketball team faced off with Grace Christian on Thursday night and came out on top 74-69.
Crown fell behind early as the Tigers took the 21-9 lead with 14:03 to play in the first half. The Polars chipped away throughout the half and tied the score at 33-33 after a three point play from
Anthony Knight. Grace Christian went on a 6-0 run to end the first half and held the 39-33 lead at the break.
The second half was back and forth once again but the Polars climbed back into the game tying the score at 59-59 with 8:58 to play. Down the stretch Crown came to play taking the lead with a
John Grigsby three point basket and pulling out in front by seven in the closing few minutes. Crown closed out the win 74-69.
Tyrus Buckner led the Polars in points with 24 points and 7 rebounds.
Carter Behne totaled 11 points and led Crown with 9 rebounds. As a team the Polars shot 42.2% from the field and 30% from three point range.
The Polars move to 14-13 on the season and will next take on North Central at 7:15pm tomorrow March 14th with a spot in the NCCAA DII National Championship on the line.
