St. Paul, Minn. – The Polars men's basketball team faced off with the University of Northwestern on Saturday and fell by a score of 83-73.
Back to back made three-point baskets from John Grigsby gave Crown an early lead until the Eagles jumped back out in front 21-11 with 12:10 to play in the first half. The Polars climbed right back into it taking the lead back with 5:54 to play in the half after a Carter Behne three pointer. Crown went into the halftime break in front 43-39.
The second half saw both hold the lead early until with under 10 minutes to play in the game the Eagles took the 69-60 lead. With just over 6 minutes to go Crown cut the Eagles lead to just 3 points but were unable to get any closer than that and fell 83-73.
John Grigsby led the scoring with 16 points. Tyrus Buckner and Parker Behne both totaled 12 points. Buckner led Crown with 10 rebounds on the day. Micah Ladd tallied 6 assists.
The Polars fall to 13-12 on the season and 6-8 in UMAC play. This concludes the regular season for Crown and will next head to the NCCAA Regional prior to the NCCAA Championships hosted by the Polars in March.
