Brookings, SD – The Polars indoor track and field teams kicked off the 2025-26 indoor season at the SDSU Holiday Open on Friday afternoon.
For the Polars women, Callie Dufault finished 6th in the women's 1 mile run with a time of 6:00.41. Ruth Brueckner set the indoor school record in the 800m with a time of 2:21.36 and a 10th place finish. The Polars 4x400m relay team of Ruth Brueckner, Lindsey Morrison, Mia Arroyo, and Callie Dufault set a school record with a time of 4:23.35.
Gabby Fawcett finished the shot put with a distance of 9.00m. Camille Ring ran the 60m and 60m hurdles and finished with times of 8.30 in the 60m and 9.93 in the 60m hurdles. Ariana Klein, Gracelyn Foster, and Eryka Kindervater all competed for the Crown women.
For the Polars men Caden Swoboda finished the 800m with a time of 2:00.28. Alexaner Burnham finished the shot put with a distance of 12.77m and the weight throw with a distance of 12.03m. The men's 4x400m relay team of Casey Struthers, Caden Swoboda, William Nugent, and Gabriel Filter finished with a time of 3:45.50.
David Tuttle ran the 5000m and finished with a time of 17:12.73. Andrew Johnson led the Polars in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:12.70. Kaden Pullam, Quinn Peterson, Jude Dunn, Elijah Scott, Evan Gibson, Malik Smith, and Marschall Harrison all competed for the Crown men.
The Polars indoor track and field teams will return to action after winter break with their next meet coming on January 17th in Northfield, Minnesota at the Ole Opener.
