Orange, Calif. - The Crown College women's basketball team wrapped up its Christmas break California trip on Tuesday evening with a matchup against Chapman University at the Hutton Sports Center. The Polars continued to compete for four quarters against a strong Panthers squad, ultimately falling 71–47.
Chapman came out with early momentum in the opening quarter, knocking down shots from the perimeter to build a first-quarter lead. Crown answered with improved ball movement and timely baskets late in the period, including three-point shooting that helped keep the Polars within reach heading into the second.
The Panthers extended their lead in the second quarter, but Crown continued to fight on both ends of the floor. Kendall Clark and Kate Arneson provided a spark off the bench, connecting from deep and helping Crown close the half with positive momentum despite the deficit.
Coming out of halftime, the Polars put together one of their strongest stretches of the game. Crown shot efficiently in the third quarter, scoring 14 points and matching Chapman's energy with improved defensive pressure. The Polars were able to string together stops and capitalize offensively to stay competitive entering the final period.
Crown continued to battle in the fourth, with multiple players contributing on both ends of the floor. Despite the final score, the Polars maintained their effort through the final buzzer, closing out a challenging road trip against quality competition.
Sydney Cotten and Kendall Clark led Crown with nine points apiece, with Clark knocking down three three-pointers. Brayli Reimer added eight points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, while Morgan Bednarek contributed across the stat sheet with nine rebounds and three assists. Crown also saw contributions from its bench throughout the contest, continuing to build depth during the holiday stretch.
The Polars will return home following the Christmas break trip and prepare to resume conference play in the new year.
