New Ulm, Minn. – The Polars competed on the road Friday afternoon, falling 70–56 to Martin Luther in the UMAC opener.
Martin Luther established an early rhythm in the opening quarter, taking a 21–15 lead, while Crown found success attacking inside through Brayli Reimer and Morgan Bednarek. The Polars stayed engaged defensively and continued to work for quality looks as the game settled into a physical pace.
Crown matched Martin Luther's intensity in the second quarter, limiting scoring opportunities and keeping the game within reach heading into halftime. Strong defensive possessions and balanced contributions allowed the Polars to enter the break trailing 34–27.
The third quarter featured extended possessions on both ends, with Martin Luther capitalizing on inside opportunities to build separation. Crown continued to battle, earning extra chances and forcing multiple defensive stops as the game moved into the final period.
The Polars finished the afternoon with a strong fourth-quarter performance, outscoring Martin Luther 20–18. Sydney Cotten provided a spark from the perimeter, while Reimer consistently pressured the defense in the paint. Crown cut into the deficit late and maintained its pace through the final horn.
Reimer led the Polars with 17 points and four assists, while Cotten added 15 points, connecting on four three-point attempts. Bednarek contributed 10 points and eight rebounds, anchoring Crown's presence inside.
The Polars return to action on Wednesday, January 14 at Bethany Lutheran in Mankato, Minn.
