St. Bonifacius, Minn. — The Polars advanced to the NCCAA Division II National Championship game with a 76–66 win over Calvary.
Morgan Bednarek opened the scoring on an assist from Brayli Reimer to start a back‑and‑forth first quarter. Bednarek continued to dominate with 8 points, while Sydney Cotten and Reimer each added 4 as the trio combined for 16 of the team's 18 points in the quarter. Calvary matched the Polars 18 points as the game was tied heading into the second frame.
Cotten led a 21–9 second‑quarter surge with 9 points. Bednarek added 6 more and Reimer scored 4 as the Polars took a 39–27 lead into halftime.
Calvary responded in the third, outscoring Crown 18–16 to trim the deficit to 10 and keep the game within reach. Cotten and Reimer continued to produce, each scoring 7 points in the quarter.
The Polars closed out the win with an even fourth quarter, powered by 9 more points from Bednarek and 8 from Reimer. Crown maintained control down the stretch to secure the 76–66 victory.
Cotten, Bednarek, and Reimer each finished with 20‑point double‑doubles as the trio combined for 70 of the team's 76 points. Cotten led the way with 24 points, adding 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Reimer posted 23 points and 12 rebounds; her 3 assists extended her single‑season assists record, which she broke in the previous game. Bednarek rounded out the group with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists, along with a block and a steal.
The Polars will play in the NCCAA Division II National Championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday, closing out a successful season under second‑year head coach David Pederson.
