Polars Come Up Short After Fourth Quarter Surge

Minneapolis, Minn. - The Polars fall 67-68 against a tough MIAC opponent after a strong fourth quarter.

The Polars scored 10 points in the first quarter; the first 8 of those were scored by Brayli Reimer as she did all she could to keep the Polars in the game. Crown also helped themselves on defense, forcing five turnovers and allowing just 14 first quarter points. Trailing by 4 at the start of the second quarter, the Polars jumped out to a hot start on a 7-0 run to take the lead. The Polars held a small lead for much of the quarter, but the Auggies took a late lead to end the half up by 4.

It was all Auggies to begin the second half, as they jumped out to a quick 10 point lead. The Polars hung around the rest of the quarter and trailed by 10 at the start of the fourth quarter. The start of the final quarter was a reflection of most of the game as teams went back and forth with Augsburg keeping the lead to 8 or more for the first 4 minutes. The final 6 minutes, however, was all Polars as they finish the half on a 16-7 run. The late run was not enough with the Polars coming up just bucket shy of their biggest win of the early season.

The Polars women showed they can compete after their impressive performance against Augsburg University. Isabelle Sager led the team in scoring with 19 after shooting 8-10 from the floor with 12 rebounds and 3 steals. Brayli Reimer also filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. Jacee Glasgow finished with 13 points, going 3-6 from beyond the arc. Morgan Bednarek led the charge off the bench with 11 points and 6 rebounds. She also was 4-8 from the floor and 3-4 at the free throw line. As a team, the Polars out rebounded the Auggies which contributed to them winning 13-7 in second chance points and 34-20 in points in the paint.

The Polars will return to action again in a week as they travel to St. Olaf College on Tuesday, December 2 at 7:00pm. This is a rare second match up between non-conference teams as the Oles were victorious in a competitive game.
