St. Paul, MN - Second half surge pushes Eagles past Polars.
A cool late-October evening in St. Paul, MN, set the stage for a competitive women's soccer match up between the Crown Polars and the Northwestern Eagles, their second meeting of the season. Northwestern had taken the win in the previous contest, and this rematch proved just as hard-fought. Crown's defense held firm through the first 45 minutes, earning a well-deserved clean sheet at halftime with the score locked at 0–0. The Polars continued their disciplined play into the second half, but Northwestern finally broke through in the 60th minute to take the lead. Despite a standout performance from goalkeeper Rachel Fuller, who tallied 14 saves, Crown couldn't find an equalizer. Northwestern added a late insurance goal to seal a 2-0 victory.
The Polars now turn their attention to their senior day match up this Saturday, when they host North Central at home.
