St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars women's basketball team faced off with UW-Superior on Saturday and fell by a score of 56-42.
Two free throws from
Brayli Reimer gave Crown the first lead of the game then the Yellowjackets went on a 17-7 run to close out the first quarter after a three minute stretch of no scoring from Crown. Back-to-back made three point baskets from
Sydney Cotten and Reimer cut the Yellowjacket lead to just seven points as the score was 26-19. The Yellowjackets held the lead at the half 32-23.
Both teams traded blows in the third quarter and a late three pointer from
Kaleigh Glasgow got Crown to within eleven points as the Yellowjackets led 44-33. After a few early scores from UW-Superior the Polars started to gain momentum as Crown trailed by only 9 points with 2 minutes to play. The lead was too much to overcome and UW-Superior came out on top 56-42.
Sydney Cotten played all 40 minutes and tallied 17 points to lead the Polars offense.
Isabelle Sager totaled an impressive 16 rebounds.
Crown falls to 2-16 on the season and 1-6 in UMAC play and will next head on the road to take on Bethany Lutheran on Saturday, February 1st at 4:45pm.
