St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Polars men's basketball team faced off with Bethany Lutheran on Saturday and fell by a score of 88-76.
Crown jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the game after three baskets from
Tyrus Buckner. The Vikings battled back taking their first lead of the game with 9:32 on the clock 19-16. Bethany Lutheran held onto the lead for the rest of the first half taking the 44-40 lead going into the halftime break.
With 13:34 to go in the second half the Vikings stretched their lead to ten points and never looked back. Crown was unable to surge back into the contest with the lead staying around ten points and the Vikings took the win 88-76. The Vikings shot the three ball well, knocking down 13 of them in the contest.
Buckner led the scoring for Crown with 22 points. Both
Carter Behne and
John Grigsby finished with 11 points. Grigsby led the Polars with 9 rebounds.
Micah Ladd added another 7 assists in the contest. As a team the Polars shot 38.9% from the field going 28-72.
The Polars fall to 9-5 on the season and 2-1 in UMAC play and will next head on the road to take on North Central on Saturday, January 18
th at 3pm.
