Ellendale, ND - The Polars men's basketball team faced off with North Central on Saturday in the NCCAA DII North Region Final and came out victorious by a score of 76-52.
The first 5 minutes of play was back and forth as both teams knocked down shots early in this contest. Crown gained an early advantage as they took an 18-9 lead after a three ball from
Micah Ladd. Over three minutes of play went by without any points until the Polars piled on the points stretching the lead to 30-19 at the half.
Eight minutes into the second half Crown had taken a 30 point lead as they held the 56-24 lead with 12 minutes remaining. Crown held the large lead throughout the half and ended up taking the win by a score of 76-52.
Carter Behne and
Tyrus Buckner led the scoring with 15 points each.
Cade Carroll totaled 14 points and
Micah Ladd notched 13 of his own. Ladd also led Crown in assists with 5.
Jacob Masek led the rebounding with 10 boards and Buckner followed with 9 rebounds.
As a team Crown shot 37.7% from the floor going 26-69 and 36.7% from three point range going 11-30. Crown totaled 18 points in the paint and had 9 more rebounds than the Rams.
Crown will next head to the NCCAA DII National Championship tournament hosted by North Central next week where the first contest is set to get underway on Thursday, March 14th at 1pm.
