Owatonna, MN - The Polars tennis teams battled with the Knights of Martin Luther on Saturday and both fell by scores of 5-4 and 9-0.
For the Crown women,
Annie Doyle competed in the #1 singles match and the #1 doubles match.
Jaidence Medina competed in the #2 singles and #1 doubles match.
Lydia Rakow,
Amanda Helser,
Elsie Estenson,
Adriana Sonnentag,
Elyse Steffen, and
Jada Dehn all took the court rounding out the Polars competitors.
In the doubles matches the Polars didn't fare too well, but in singles play two sets went to tiebreakers and three sets Polars earned 4 points. In the end, the Crown women fell 9-0 across all nine matches to the Knights.
For the Crown men,
Tade Geving competed in the #1 singles match and the #1 doubles match.
David Comings competed in the #2 singles and #1 doubles match.
Samuel Kettelhut,
Gabe Rojas Gomez,
Austin Droeger,
Gavin Leuthold, and
Dawson Richardson all took the court rounding out the Polars competitors.
Geving and Comings won the #1 doubles match by a score of 8-7 after a tiebreaker set win. Richardson and Leuthold combined to win the #3 doubles match handily by a score of 8-2. The Polars did not fare as well in singles play as they lost the #1, #4, #5, and #6 singles matches. Comings won the #2 singles match handily 6-0 and 6-1. Kettlehut won the #3 singles match 6-4 and 6-3. The difference in the match was the #1 singles battle where Geving fell in a tiebreaker set as the Polars men fell 5-4.
The Polars tennis teams are back in action on Friday, April 5th with the women taking on Minnesota Morris at 11am in Waconia and both teams taking on Northwestern at 1pm. These matches will be the first and only outdoor matches of the season.
