Mount Vernon, Iowa - The Polars women's basketball team faced off with the Cornell Rams on the road on Saturday and fell 56-51.
The Rams jumped out in front early and held the lead throughout the first quarter as Cornell held the 14-6 lead.
Isabelle Sager found a few buckets to start the second quarter, but Cornell stretched the lead to seventeen points as the score at half favored the Rams 32-15.Â
The third quarter saw the Rams stretch the lead to 25 points early in the quarter. As the quarter ticked down Crown started to chip in to the Cornell lead cutting the lead to 50-31 heading into the fourth quarter. Crown got hot in the 4th quarter going on an 11-4 run as the score set at 54-42 with 6:08 to play. With under a minute to go Crown was trailing by three points, but the Polars were unable to complete the comeback and the final score read 56-51.
Brayli Reimer totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Isabelle Sager grabbed 14 rebounds and totaled 8 points. Freshman
Emma Kingsley finished with 13 points. As a team the Polars shot just 26.9% from the field and 15.4% from three point range.
The Polars fall to 0-1 on the season and will next head on the road on Wednesday, November 13th for a 7pm game against Luther College.
