St. Paul, Minn. - Polars men's basketball faced off with the Hamline Pipers on Wednesday night and came out on top 64-62.
The Pipers jumped out in front early scoring 7 unanswered points in the first 4 minutes. Crown was able to cut into the Hamline lead throughout the first half and was able to keep the score to a five point lead as the Pipers led 29-24.
Right out of the break Tyrus Buckner helped propel Crown on an 11-2 run to open the second half and Crown took the 35-31 lead with 16:03 to play in the second half. With just over ten minutes remaining in the second half the score was even at 41-41. Parker Behne drilled a corner three off a Jacob Van Dam skip pass with just over 1:30 left in the game to give Crown the 58-54 lead. Hamline answered to cut the lead to 58-57 with 38 seconds left. The Polars closed it out to earn the 64-62 victory.
Tyrus Buckner and John Grigsby both tallied 17 points in the contest, with Buckner leading Crown in rebounds with 8. Micah Ladd totaled 7 assists.
The Polars move to 3-1 on the season and will next return home on Saturday, November 30th for a home contest against Luther College at 3pm.
