St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars men's basketball team faced off with the Luther College Norse on Saturday and came out on top 96-81.
Luther took the early 11-5 lead with 14:04 to go in the first half which saw a Crown timeout follow shortly after. The Polars cut the lead back down to just two points nearing the halfway point of the first half. The Norse answered the Polars call and pulled out to a 34-24 lead with 4:11 left on the clock. Crown battled late and a late three point play from
Tyrus Buckner saw the score stay at 43-37 with the Norse out in front at the break
The second half was all Crown early as the Polars connected on multiple buckets from Buckner and
John Grigsby and the Polars took the lead with 15:38 on the clock 51-50. Two threes from
Carter Behne and two threes from
Micah Ladd extended Crown's lead to nine points. Then the three point barrage continued as three different Polars connected to stretch the lead to 13 points with 3 minutes remaining. Crown held on to win by a score of 96-81.
Tyrus Buckner led the scoring with an impressive night going 10-16 from the field and totaling 29 points. Six different Polars totaled double digit points as
Rayquan Moore had 15,
Micah Ladd had 13,
John Grigsby tallied 14,
Carter Behne tallied 10, and
Anthony Knight scored 10 points. As a team the Polars shot a whopping 54.2% from three point range going 13-24.Â
Crown win their fourth straight game to move to 4-1 on the season and will next play an exhibition contest on the road at Winona State Monday, December 2nd at 7pm.
