St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars football team took on the Northwestern Eagles on Saturday and fell by a score of 24-10.
Northwestern found the end zone first on a 39 yard run in the middle of the first quarter. After a Crown turnover the Eagles took the 14-0 lead in the first moments of the second quarter. After a few punts for both teams the momentum shifted in Crown's favor after a
Jake Brush interception for the Crown defense. That turnover gave the Polars excellent starting position and Crown found the end zone on a 10 yard run by
Jakari Hunnecook. The score read 14-7 at the half after a missed field goal from the Eagles to close the half.Â
The Eagles scored 10 unanswered points with a 25 yard field goal and a 20 yard touchdown pass. With 10:21 remaining in the 4th quarter
Brock Knick drove a 24 yard field goal through the uprights to make the score 24-10. Northwestern stopped the Polars on their last two drives and Crown fell 24-10.
Quarterback
Zach Brown went 11-25 through the air totaling 139 passing yards.
Donovan Soloman continued the strong rushing efforts with 23 carries for 140 rushing yards.
Gabe Banks and
Millicent Grear led the Crown defense with 8 tackles each. Banks had 1 sack, Grear had 1.5 sacks, and
Jared Pardee tallied 1 sack.
Crown falls to 1-6 on the season and 1-3 in UMAC play. The Polars will return home next week with a 4pm game against UM-Morris on Saturday, November 2nd.
