Minneapolis, Minn. - The Polars volleyball team faced off with Maranatha Baptist on Saturday and came out on top 3-0.
From the start of the first set Crown was ready to play as the Polars took the 12-3 lead out of the gate and went on to win the first set 25-11 after a barrage of offense from
Madilyn Smith and
Emma Bottelberghe. Maranatha Baptist jumped out in front 4-0 in the second set, but the Polars cut into that lead quickly and took the lead back 8-7. From there on out Crown went on a 17-4 run to close of the set.
Set three was back and forth early on with both teams having a lead within the first few points. A six point run led by three kills from Bottelberghe pushed the Polars out in front 21-12 and Crown finished out the contest taking home the 3-0 win.
Bottelberghe led the offensive efforts with 12 total kills.
Taylor Schafer totaled 6 kills.
Brooke Rummel and
Abbey Underdahl led in assists for the Polars as Rummel totaled 16 assists and Underdahl added 14 assists.
Ellie Fuller totaled 26 digs leading the Crown defense. Rummel added 11 digs.
The Polars move to 6-9 on the season and will next head on the road to take on the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday, October 22nd at 6:00pm.
