Winona, MN — Crown men's soccer opened its season under the lights on the road Thursday night, earning a hard-fought draw against Saint Mary's in a 7 p.m. match up in Winona.

The Cardinals struck first in the opening half, scoring in the 33rd minute to take a 1-0 advantage into halftime. Crown responded after the break, finding the equalizer off the foot of senior Ashton Hosler. Hosler's tying goal came with an assist from Carlos Neto, bringing the Polars level and shifting momentum back toward Crown.

Freshman goalkeeper Logan Jacobson starred in his collegiate debut, finishing with 10 saves while allowing just one goal on 19 Saint Mary's shots. His performance helped keep the Polars within reach and ultimately preserved the season-opening result.

Crown opens the season with a draw and will return home Saturday to face another MIAC opponent, Saint John's University, as the Polars look to build on their strong defensive effort.
