St. Bonifcaius, MN - Both games come down to the wire as Polars split doubleheader with Knights.
Game 1 - Back-to-back doubles from
Brooklyn Ocker and
Megan Cryer put the Polars on top early on Saturday in game 1.
Emmy Romportl, who started in the circle this game, also singled in a run. Knights homered in the 3rd and tagged on another run to close the gap to 1 run. Following a defensive error, Martin Luther tied it at 3 a piece. Polars answered in the bottom half of the 5th with a
Maria Lilienthal single, another Ocker double and single from Cryer to take the 6-3 lead. Romportl completed the game and sealed the 6-5 victory.
Game 2 - Martin Luther put up 2 runs in the top of the 1st, but Crown answered right back.
Itzel Valles singled and Ocker came through again with an RBI single to tie it at 2. A big 3rd inning from Martin Luther put them up 8-2. Down but not out, the Polars came roaring back. Ocker capped off her impressive afternoon with a 3-run RBI triple. Valles singled in the 4th which led to an 8-8 push.
Savannah Urbinsky doubled in a run to take the lead and Romportl singled to add on to the lead. Once again, the Knights answered with runs, surpassing the Polars and taking game 2, 11-10.
Softball is now 2-4 in UMAC play and will go to University of Northwestern next week Thursday and Friday before Easter weekend.
