Watertown, WI - Seniors stand out in finale doubleheader.
Yesterday's win in game one of the three game set, gave the Polars the best win total the program has ever had. Looking to add to the record, the Polars suited up for another two games against Maranatha Baptist. Crown was able to score first and pull into an early 4-1 lead in game one before exploding with an 11-run 4th and 5-run 5th to cruise to a 20-1 victory. Three freshman pitchers shared the circle to complete the game. Seniors,
Emmy Romportl,
Catelyn Garza,
Maria Lilienthal, and
Itzel Valles led the way offensively with 9 hits and 12 RBIs. Polars picked up right where they left off in game two, by scoring 9 runs in the 1st frame. Romportl surpassed a career milestone in the 4th inning by striking out her 200th batter. In game two, the four seniors put up another historic performance, tallying 7 hits and 15 RBIs. Lilienthal's 7 broke the single game record for Crown softball. Polars would go on to win 30-0 and bid farewell to their beloved seniors who led the program to a 21-18 record this season.
