Roseville, MN - Softball opens up conference season with 11-3 win over Morris.
After a quick 1st inning from
Brooklyn Riley, the Polars offense got going right away.
Emmy Romportl hit a lead off triple to spark the offense.
Sophie Monsman found her way on base via fielder's choice, and
Maria Lilienthal sent one over the right center wall, plating 3 on the home run. Top of the order came through again in the 3rd with a single from Romportl, walk by Monsman, single from Lilienthal, and a 2-run home run from
Lindsey Stapleton to put the Polars up 8-0. Following a hit by pitch and another free pass,
Catelyn Garza came through with a 2-run single. Cougars came up with 2 runs in the top of the 4th and a solo run in the 5th. Three singles from
Megan Cryer,
Kya Oakes, and Monsman in the bottom of the 5th sealed the 11-3 victory.
Polars improve to 13-4 on the season and 1-0 in UMAC play. They will play Morris in a doubleheader at 12pm and 2pm tomorrow to wrap up the three game series.
