Naples, FL - For the fourth consecutive day, Crown softball played a morning doubleheader in Florida.
Game 1 vs University of Pittsburgh-Bradford - After being shutout in their previous game, the Polars came out swinging in game one.
Brooklyn Ocker plated 2 runs on a double in the top of the 1st. UPB answered right back with an RBI double off of
Brooklyn Riley in the bottom of the 1st. It was a handful of walks, wild pitches, and an
Itzel Valles sacrifice fly that kept adding runs for the Polars in the next two innings as they hopped out to an 8-1 lead early in this game. UPB rushed all the way back to tie it in the bottom of the 6th. After
Maria Lilienthal reached base for her 5th consecutive time in the game, Valles ripped a double in the gap, scoring Lilienthal and
Sophie Monsman. On her 123rd pitch of the day, Riley struck out the last batter of the game, improving her record to 6-0 on the season and sealing the 10-9 victory for Crown.
Game 2 vs Geneva College (PA) - The Golden Tornadoes jumped out big to begin the contest, scoring 11 runs before the Polars were able to answer with an
Emmy Romportl RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd. A few defensive mistakes led to another run for Geneva in the top of the 4th. RBI hits from
Ava Svec,
Savannah Urbinsky, and Romportl in the bottom half of the inning tacked on 3 runs to close the deficit to 12-5. Geneva would plate 3 more runs in the 7th and take game two by a score of 15-5.
Polars are now 10-4 on the season and will get a day off tomorrow before finishing their Florida trip with two games versus St Joseph's University Brooklyn at 8am CST and Lesley University at 12pm CST on Monday.
