Minneapolis, MN – The Polars baseball team traveled to U.S. Bank Stadium on Thursday morning for a 9:00 a.m. game against Bethel University for their season opener.
Bethel had a big second inning and didn't look back, taking a commanding 20-3 victory over the Polars. Shortstop Caden Esquerra went 2-4 with an RBI single in the sixth inning. TJ Reilly and Carson Sanders both doubled. Blayke Reyburn, Easton McKenzie, and Keegan Eastman all stole a base as well. Brett Torbeck got the start, pitching three innings. Matt Yarish, Tanner Flahaven, Noah Rutledge, and Floris de Wolf all saw action on the mound. De Wolf struck out two in his two innings of work.
The Polars also played the first four innings of the second game of the doubleheader but ended the game early due to time constraints at U.S. Bank Stadium. The game will continue at a later date in the fifth inning with the Polars trailing 13-1.
Crown will continue its season on Sunday evening at U.S. Bank Stadium in a doubleheader with The College of St. Scholastica. The Polars will finish their six-game stretch at U.S. Bank Stadium with another doubleheader against Bethel before traveling to Arizona over Spring Break.
