St. Bonifacius, MN - Early goal by Yellow Jackets proves to be enough against Polars.
Coming off a dominant 9–2 win over Martin Luther on Wednesday, the Crown College men's soccer team was hoping to carry that momentum into Saturday's match up against UW-Superior. Unfortunately for the Polars, the Yellow Jackets came out firing from the opening whistle. Superior struck just one minute into the game, as Orlando Fertleman capitalized on a quick opportunity and found the back of the net to put the Yellow Jackets up 1–0 early. It was a tough blow right out of the gate, but Crown responded with poise and grit for the rest of the match. The Polars held their own against the defending conference champions, creating a handful of quality chances throughout the game. Despite several strong pushes forward, Crown couldn't quite find the equalizer they needed. The 1–0 loss moves Crown to 1–1 in UMAC play.
Looking ahead, men's soccer hits the road next week for two more UMAC match ups. First up: a trip down to Mankato to take on Bethany Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23.
