St. Paul, Minn. - The Polars baseball team faced off with Northwestern St. Paul on Friday afternoon and fell by a score of 4-1.
A three run first inning from the Eagles put Northwestern out in front heading into the top half of the 2nd inning. A leadoff solo home run from
Bryan Gerbers in the top of the 4th inning cut into the Eagles lead 3-1. Crown just tallied two more hits in the remainder of the contest as the Polars fell by a score of 4-1.
Jacob Van Dam was credited with the loss after pitching 8 innings and allowing just 4 earned runs. As a team the Polars totaled 4 hits as Gerbers,
Tyler Olson,
Julian Encinas, and
Louis Garcia earned a hit.Â
Depsite the loss the Polars clinched a spot in the UMAC postseason tournament with a shot to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA regionals. Crown falls to 19-15 on the season and 14-5 in UMAC play and will face off again with Northwestern tomorrow May 3rd in a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
