St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars baseball team faced off with Martin Luther on Friday night and came out on top 11-3.
Crown led the game from start to finish after the Polars pushed across three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning after a wild pitch scored
Kyler Thruston and
Ashton Long drove in two runs with a double to right center. Crown extended the lead to 5-0 before the Knights got on the scoreboard. After one run in the bottom of the 5th Crown pulled away pushing three runs across in the bottom of the 7th inning after
Tyler Bloom,
Julian Encinas, and
Caleb Yowell knocked in runs. The Polars went on to win 11-3.
Jacob Van Dam pitched 6 innings and earned the win allowing just 3 earned runs.
Mitchell Cox and
Drew Girtz came in to close out the contest combining for 3 innings pitched and just one hit allowed.
Tyler Bloom and
Ashton Long both had 3 hits on the day to lead the Crown offense. Long had 5 RBI's and Bloom had 2 RBI's.
Crown moves to 17-14 on the season and 12-4 in UMAC play and will return to Missile Park tomorrow for a doubleheader with the Knights starting at 1:30pm.
